You cannot have a garden without soil. The soil receives seeds, provides nutrients and a base for plants to grow.
In a spiritual sense, our hearts are like soil. Not all soil is the same, however, some soil is hard and will not receive seeds very well. Jesus mentioned this in the parable of the seeds-- those that fell on hard ground withered in the sun or were eaten by birds.
Let's have the right kind of hearts-- soft and receiving of God's Word. That way we too will grow strong and tall spiritually.
