Building?

Well, we have been praying and looking for a suitable building.

As you know, God led us to relocate here in Ishikawa. We believe it is because He wants to begin a new work here.

We have looked at a few buildings, but this seems to have the best location (downtown) and the most flexibility (it is a large space).

However, we do not want this building unless God wants us to have it. There are some obstacles that He will have to overcome if we are to rent it.

Please pray with us:
  • that we will find favor with the owner -- that he would be willing to rent to foreigners (not everyone is)
  • that the A/C will be operational (building has not been used for several years!), or that the owner will be willing to fix it.
  • that the rent and fix-up fees will be reasonable.
  • mostly that if God wants us here that everything will go smooth, but if He does not want us here that it be very clear. We certainly do not want to do anything that is not being directed by God.
For every house is built by someone, but God is the builder of everything. --Hebrews 3:4

Typhoon

Here comes another typhoon!

Typhoon Nari has come... hopefully we will keep our electricity this time. The last one (July), we lost our power for 18 hours!

But, typhoons are just a part of living in Okinawa.

Surgery

So today was surgery day for Debe's Mom, Hiroko.

Everything went well, so that's a blessing!

Please continue to pray for Hiroko as she is in some pain.

We are thankful to God for His protection and are waiting for her to come home soon.

These are the actual gallstones that were causing so much trouble.

Funny, they look so small...yet they can cause so much pain!

Gallstones!

Please pray for Debe's mom, Hiroko, as she has gallstones.

She is now undergoing several tests and will likely have surgery soon to remove her gallbladder.

This would never be "good" news, but at least during the summer Dan is off from work and is available to drive to the hospital for the tests. So far, she has had an MRI, a CT scan and a camera down her throat. Sounds fun.

Well, please pray for Hiroko and her doctors that everything goes well!

Wednesday night with the kids

Every Wednesday night our church has a church service. This includes times of worship songs, prayer and a message from the Word. Right now, we are going through Exodus.

What is cool, is that whenever the adults meet for service, there is something planned for the kids (on their level).

This night was "Shepherd Night" (they have a different theme each week), so the kids all looked cute in their shepherd garb.

Of course, Emi's only lasted about 5 minutes, so she isn't in the group shot...but she had fun learning how God looks for the lost sheep.

Debe's Birthday

Well, we all have them: birthdays that is.

Debe is another year older, but Dan thinks she becomes prettier with each year.

Anyway, here is a photo from the coffee house.

We also went on a little date (a rarity these days).

We went to this neat little cafe (it was kind of "girly" in there, but the cake was good!)

Happy Birthday!

My own room?

Before we moved to Ishikawa, we were living in a house in Naha.

One nice thing about the house was this large tatami room (straw mat). We would all sleep in there on the floor, plus it was a "safe" place to fall down for those just learning to walk.

Well, our apartment in Ishikawa is "American style", which means:
1) the toilet and bathtub are combined (they are in separate rooms in Japanese style apartments.
2) the apartment size is larger (which we desired for bible studies/fellowship), and
3) there is no tatami room.

This meant the girls would have their own room for the first time.

Emi loved the idea!...well, at least until bedtime. She got used to sleeping with us, I guess.

She does like having her own bed and room though and is getting more used to sleeping by herself.
